Books:
Books recommended
The Lonely Planet Chile
The Lonely Planet Argentina
Money:
Chilean – Peso
Argentinian – Peso
ATM machines are the most convenient and work much better than cash or traveler’s checks. There are No ATM’s after the first couple of nights.
It’s a good idea to bring at least one backup card (another ATM card, debit, or credit card). Cash is another great backup in clean large bills.
Change at least $100 US for Argentinian Pesos as you arrive at the Santiago Airport.
Additional Motorcycle Liability Reduction:
Optional Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) for bike damage is $25.00 per riding day(cost not to exceed $300). When you purchase this agreement, you will be responsible for the first $2,000 of bike damages. If you decline this option you are responsible for all expenses. (Please note that the LDW does not cover personal property damage or bodily injury.) We recommend that you contact your motorcycle insurance carrier to see if you are covered for rental motorcycles.
Arrival:
Send us your travel information so we know when and where to meet you. Please be prepared to show your current motorcycle drivers license.
Gear:
Bring riding gear that is warm and waterproof (a riding suit with pads is best). We recommend Scorpion XDR Commander riding gear. Also bring: Stout water-proof boots, rain gear, a warm hat, rain-proof gloves (2 pair), hiking shoes, bug spray, lots of underwear, fleece layers, full-faced helmet, swim suit (if there are hot springs), and a good camera are the things you need on the trail.
Back to TopRiding the remote dirt highways of southern Chile are an experience in itself. Riding AND fishing is a dream come true! So many rivers, and such good fishing. This is an exceptional adventure!
