To Book This Tour:

To secure a spot for our Laos Golden Triangle Tour please register and send in $1,000 deposit.

Visa:

You will need a VISA.

Visa upon arrival is available at the airport as well as many land borders.
The fee (US) is $30 at the moment and you need to provide one passport photo
with your application.  Thai Baht is also accepted but the exchange rate is
poor.  Visa fees may rise this year again but this is the current
information.  Upon arrival, you are issued a 30 day tourist visa for your
stay in Laos.  A visa before arrival is good, saves time waiting at the
airport or bridge.

*Bring at least 2 passport photos with you!

Savor a sunset over the Mekong River in Luang Prabang.

Travel:

Get to Vientiane, the Capital City of Laos.  There are flights through Bankok. You may need to spend the night there. Recommended Hotels:

“There is a  Novotel hotel right by the airport in Bangkokcalled the Novotel Suvarnabhum and it starts at about $136/night which is not cheap by Thai standards but it is a beautiful hotel and they do the airport transfers.  If they end up in downtown Bangkok, the Sheraton
Royal Orchid is really nice, reasonable and on the river.”  Sally Huntley, our travel agent.

Money:

Laotian Kip

  • Bring Credit Card: Visa, MasterCard, American Express.
  • Bring Debit Cards or Check Cards that work at ATMs for Withdrawing Cash. This is the most efficient way of getting local CASH.  Visa and PLUS System seem to be the most recognized. A MASTERCARD ATM card is also valuable.
  • Always bring at least $500 AMERICAN CASH in clean bills

Optional Kitty:

$300 Non-Drinker
$500 Drinkers

Riders will be asked to put money into a kitty before and during the tour, to be used by the group as a whole for gas and other group-oriented activites not indicated as included in the tour package such as lunches, dinners, park entry fees, toll road fees, tips, water stops, etc. Guides and other staff also contribute to this kitty. This kitty account will be administered by the lead guide. During the tour, should the kitty "run dry" there will be another kitty collection. If there is a surplus in the kitty at the end of the tour, the kitty will be redestributed back to the tour participants.  You may pay the kitty by Visa, Mastercard, Cash or Personal Check. The lead guide will collect this prior to your tour start date. We have found this system to facilitate group riding during our tours.

The tour I took with MotoQuest to Laos was a world-class experience. Aside from providing a great tour package with bikes, roads and accommodations, the tour was full of great side activities like elephant riding, boat trips and a tour of the Pathet Lao Caves. Having experienced Vietnam years ago, coming to Laos was truly moving. The staff on the tour taught us about the culture and the history as we rode past amazing scenery. I not only rode a motorcycle in Laos, but also learned so much more about a very special country and culture. I have taken several tours with MotoQuest, and I always come away with profound experience. I plan to see the world with MotoQuest!
