Meet and Ride with MotoQuest founder Phil Freeman

Phil Freeman started Alaska Rider Tours in 1998. This will be his third motorcycle tour of South Africa. He was born and raised in Alaska, and can't get enough of the wildness of Africa. Phil is a great guide, and takes the extra effort to make sure that his riders are comfortable and happy. His sense of humor is infectious, and his choice of routes and accommodations make for top shelf adventure and comfort. He looks forward to meeting and riding with you in Cape Town.

Steve is your guide in South Africa

Steve: MotoQuest Guide from South Africa

Steve has guided our groups in South Africa for the past few years. He speaks English and Afrikaans. He is an accredited guide by the government of South Africa. His knowledge of culture, plants, animals and great lunch and dinner spots makes for an enriched experience in South Africa. He is a great rider and conversationalist, and he takes the extra time to explain the history and culture of South Africa. Our riders agree: Riding with Steve makes the trip in South Africa!

Why the Baviaanskloof?

It is a world heritage site with a series of three epic passes - all dirt- to the heart of wild Africa. It is a challenging ride, with narrow dirt roads and high cliffs. It runs through Black Rhino country. There are a series of stream crossings that keep you on your toes. We love to ride on the pegs, and the Baviaanskloof will keep you there. No wonder the Baviaanskloof was chosen by BMW to launch their new 1200 GS in 2004! The Baviaanskloof is an adventure rider's dream come true.

Challenge yourself and become a better rider on our Baviaanskloof Adventure.
